Group Rides and Events
Check this page often for updated listings of all types of cycling events in and around our area. Also, join our Facebook groups, Slipping Gears Cycling Community for last minute updates or changes to routes.
Always follow the direction of group ride leaders. Rides require, at minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, nutrition, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and your biggest smile! Many rides are held subject to weather. It's a good idea to confirm dates, time and any specific requirements, too.

SGC Tuesday Evening Mountain Ride
2024 Fall rides - don't forget your headlight! Mountain bike ride. Spring, summer and fall, weather dependent. A and B groups. A group is moderate pace on moderate to hard trails. B group is easy pace on easy to moderate trails. Beginners with mountain bikes are welcome. 1 to1.5 hrs. Both rides are at Bangor City Forest, Kittredge Road entrance, meet at the top of the hill at 5:30pm, wheels rolling at 6:00pm. SGC Thursday Evening Road Ride
Finished for the 2024 Season - Resuming Spring 2025! Spring, summer, and fall, weather dependent. 20-25 miles at a moderate pace. Road bike required. This is a moderate paced ride for riders comfortable riding in a group and will average 16-18mph with minimal stopping. Meet at the shop at 5:00pm. Wheels rolling by 5:30pm. SGC Saturday Morning Road Ride
2024 Fall rides - dress appropriately! Spring, summer and fall, weather dependent. 20-25 miles, easy 14-16mph, social pace. Beginners with road bikes welcome. This ride has a dedicated ride leader and sweep rider. A second group may leave simultaneously with a faster pace. Ride leaves from the shop at 8am and plans on returning around 10am.
